Data Ethics & IT Compliance

Technical examination of data-protection, fairness, transparency and documented compliance requirements without replacing legal evaluation.

Technical assessment service

Technical examination of data-protection, fairness, transparency and documented compliance requirements without replacing legal evaluation.

Technical assessment of privacy, fairness and responsible data processing

Data ethics and IT compliance combine technical, organisational, legal and ethical requirements. The technical expert assignment therefore starts by identifying which documented requirements form the reference frame and which of them can be examined through system states, data flows, protection measures and technical evidence. Legal interpretation remains separate.

Examination areas

Methodological approach

The assessment uses documented technical requirements and observable implementation evidence. System configuration, controls, data flows and organisationally implemented technical measures are examined where relevant. A technical finding can show whether a documented control is present or reproducibly effective under the examined conditions; it does not itself establish legal compliance.

Typical applications

Objective and limits

The report documents technical findings, evaluation criteria, risks and statement boundaries. It can inform responsible decision-makers but does not provide legal advice, a compliance certification or legal approval.

Example scope of an assessment

  • Analysis of documented privacy and AI-related requirements as the technical reference frame.
  • Evaluation of technical fairness and transparency mechanisms.
  • Documentation of risks, bias factors and algorithmic traceability.
  • Report with technical findings, limitations and improvement options without legal compliance approval.

Indicative fee range: approximately €1,400–€3,800 net, depending on system complexity, data types and required report depth. The amount is for orientation only and is not a binding offer.

Constructed examination scenario: This is a methodological example, not a real mandate, a real court appointment or a report of actual findings.

Diagnosis – identify requirements and technical implementation

Establish which documented privacy, AI, fairness or governance requirements are part of the assignment and which technical measures, data flows and evidence can be examined.

Objectives – define technically testable criteria

Translate the stated requirements into technical questions such as access control, data minimisation, pseudonymisation, logging, transparency or measurable fairness criteria.

Analysis – examine implementation and evidence

Trace data flows, inspect technical and organisational measures, test controls and document whether the observed implementation matches the defined technical criteria.

Expert synthesis – findings without legal approval

Report technical findings, residual risks and improvement options. The assessment does not certify legal compliance and does not replace legal advice.

Methodological inspiration: Nicolai Andler, Tools für Projektmanagement, Workshops und Consulting – Kompendium der wichtigsten Techniken und Methoden, 6th revised and expanded edition, Publicis, Erlangen, 2015, ISBN 978-3-89578-453-8. The examination sequence and expert synthesis used here are independently formulated for technical expert work.

Statement boundary: The examination addresses technical and methodological questions within the agreed subject of examination and evidence base. Legal advice, legal evaluation, commercial decisions and formal approval remain outside the technical expert mandate unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Initial technical classification of an enquiry

Before accepting an assignment, the technical question, subject of examination, available records, potential conflicts of interest and the required scope are reviewed. An individual non-binding proposal can then be prepared.
